Here’s a page from my daily diary or rather the life of a working mother. Clock Thy Name is what I call myself sometimes. With the pressures of managing everything perfectly well, I just flow with the flow on most occasions. And I am sure, so do you- Ms. Working Mother!
Run Run Run. Fight Fight Fight. Plan Plan Plan. Oh God you woke up late! School bus coming in 20 mins, kiddo doesn’t want to wake up- Manage, prioritize, and run. Phew, you make it for the bus but what the hell- Maid hasn’t come. Have to leave for office in 30 mins. Cook, attend door bells, shout at paper boy, slam the door, get ready and run. Start 15 mins late for office- the one hour drive to office will now take 90 mins. Resign to fate and try to sleep. Bang! The car is hit. Move out- fight and defend your driver. See the damage, get back into the car and back to normal jam packed road. Make it to office 45 mins late. All faces turn to you while you walk to your seat; boss doesn’t even look. You open the laptop and a new mail comes- a lecture from boss on punctuality with 4 meeting requests. Run again, fight for data, plan out things. Your presentation is not ready, run run run. You spill coffee on your desk, fight with your hands. It’s a relative’s anniversary today, don’t forget to call & have a nice conversation. Boss sees you again- on a personal call, ouch- a new mail, with additional work. Run Run Run.
It’s 6 pm- you open the school website to check on homework. Guess what- instead of the usual 1 page homework, its 4 pages today! Hurrah, your planning clock starts ticking again. You should leave now to be able to manage to beat traffic, reach home, cook dinner, manage homework and ensure the sleep comes to kid’s eyes at sharp 9.30. Fight with boss, plan the work for next day, and leave for home. Run Run Run.
You are back at home. Tired & hungry but in no position to sleep or eat. Kid is happy seeing you, but you have no time for the happiness and the smiles. Run to the study table, make her finish the homework. Eat or else devil lady will scold you- sleep or else lizard will come. Anything-just about anything that can ensure things are happening on time. Kid sleeps.
With no energy to even switch off the tv, you reflect on the day with closed eyes. Dreams come of a happy, peaceful life; a house in nature, lots of money- with no time pressures. Oh shucks, forgot to put the phone on charging. Wake up again and do it, else the alarm won’t wake u up on time. Tomorrow is taekwondo class; put the stuff in school bag. Ah! I promised the boss that I will send the analysis tonight. Open the laptop and fight with keys.
Run again, fight again, plan again. Tomorrow would be a better day. That’s what people say!

Its hillarious. But its so damn true. I mean u can actually relate to it. Specially the mid sleep popups. I remember my mom saying “raat na hoti, to shayad sone ko bhi na milta”.
Exactly! And now you would be saying the same thing 🙂
HAHAHA…TOO GUD Dora…felt like i m running along with the post .and already tired..phew!!…how true..i suppose a clock must have been made specially for a working women…
If a clock was made for working women, it would have 36 hours-and not 24!! Thank you for your comment, and i know you live this too!
