Pachmarhi, a hill station near Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh is by far the best hill station I have ever been to. My bias towards it also stems from the fact that I was born in this beautiful place and visiting it every year is nothing less than a detoxifying ritual.
Here are the 4 reasons why Pachmarhi is the best hill station in India:
Reaching there is easy and tireless
Unlike most other hill stations which require long hours of drive through winding roads, Pachmarhi is easily accessible from Bhopal. A newly opened road connecting it from Bareilly is extremely traffic free and gets you to Pachmarhi in 3-3.5 hours. Most of the drive is on non-winding roads and hence for all the people who get sick while travelling on altitudes, this would be the least torturous place to visit.
MP Tourism managed hotels
You would get multiple hotels/guest houses to choose from. They are in all forms of budget category and can be found across all vantage points of this small place. However, the best thing is that you have a lot of options to choose from the government managed hotels of MP tourism. They are safe, clean, well-managed and mostly converted from beautiful heritage bungalows. It does require prior booking from their website, since every hotel has only around 4-8 rooms.
Unlike other hill stations, which could offer you either good views, or good greenery or good weather, Pachmarhi is an all-inclusive place. You would find awesome views of the hills, breath-taking waterfalls, wonders of Shiva Temples and even mythological points! All this with friendly weather, clean roads, beautiful greenery and the most non polluted air you would ever breathe. I have never been to a more complete hill station!
Rigorous & Relaxing at the same time
There are a lot of things to visit there. You need to have comfortable shoes because this place would make you walk a lot. The temples, water-falls, sight-seeing points- you need to see them all. But the beauty of each one is such that even if your body is tired, your soul would be refreshingly relaxed. Your visit to Pachmarhi is also not complete if you have not sat in one of the lush green gardens and seen the wonderful sight of a sunrise or sunset. So, keep a day only for that.
My love for this place knows no bounds. And despite having visited it every year since my birth, I still haven’t had enough of it. It is a place which needs to be enjoyed both as a tourist who is jumping from one point to the other and as a person, who wants to do nothing but just walk the unexplored paths, ride a bicycle or just sit amidst the beauty.
