This is why he left the corporate world to start on his own

One look at him and you’d dismiss him from the intellectual discussion you are having. That’s the problem of having boyish looks, people tend to not take you seriously. But few minutes into conversations with him, and you get surprised with the extent of his knowledge and clarity of thoughts; that gives him the asset of having an opinion on crucial matters.

This is why he left the corporate world to start on his ownMeet Sachit Jain, founder and principal consultant at Emprise HR, a Chandigarh based search firm.

After completing his MBA in Human Resources, from University Business School (UBS), Panjab University in 2006, Sachit joined the corporate world. Not because he wanted to, but because he had nothing else to do! Yes, he is not one of those entrepreneurs who were born with a vision to change the world, who had an idea which could make investors’ head turn. He was a simple, young, confused boy who didn’t know what his life’s purpose was.

He did an MBA, because he was a Humanities graduate and MBA seemed like a natural thing to do. The fact that his hometown had the one of the best known colleges for Master’s in Human Resources, was an added advantage. His 2 years in the college were spent in late night parties at the boy’s hostel, movies, class bunking and long drives, but since he is primarily an intelligent guy, he managed to top class assignments and secure a First Division!

Then the gruesome reality of corporate world set in. Life stopped being fun. Friends didn’t have time for each other, he didn’t have time for himself and he was probably never going to work in his hometown, which he loved the most. Earning money started feeling more like a burden than a satisfying experience. That’s not how he had wanted his life to be. He couldn’t make presentations and excel reports and keep marking CC to people to get his job done for the rest of his life. So after having worked with Dalmia Cement, Bharti Axa Insurance, General Motors and Tata Teleservices, he quit.

He came back to Chandigarh and started Emprise HR in 2013, which helps companies hire talent from the market. Why a recruitment consultancy you’d probably ask?

His 7 years of work experience weren’t entirely a waste. He may not have enjoyed working in the corporates, but he surely enjoyed the work he did. He realised he loved interacting with people, matching the skills of a particular individual to a particular job requirement came naturally to him and the satisfaction of being a crucial factor in someone’s career was gratifying in more ways than one. And recruitment was the calling he had been searching for till now.

This is why he left the corporate world to start on his ownAs any new entrepreneur, he had his share of challenges too. The paperwork required to start one’s business, building a team and setting up a client base were some of the basic blocks he had to struggle with. But he is happy and proud that in the last 3 years, he has been able to establish a stand for his company in the market, he has a good client base, there’s a team of young professionals who love getting mentored by Sachit Sir, and a 100% Y-O-Y topline growth!

Pearson Publication covered Emprise HR in a case study recently and it was one of the big moments for the team, as the other names to be part of the publication were Levis, Ryan Air and Papa Jones.

It’s no turning back now for Sachit and his team. They are opening up branches in Mumbai & Bengaluru this financial year and soon moving to their own office in Chandigarh. The co-working space they had been working from till now not only saved the initial overhead costs but also provided a lot of relief from administrative hassles. But now with the plans of moving into Temp Staffing and Learning & Development space, having their own 7500 square feet office makes a lot of sense. Sachit has also started diverShe and now spinning it off as a separate legal entity to give it more visibility & traction. It focuses on only gender diversity hiring for corporates and has been doing a good business for Emprise thus far.

With all this, Sachit continues to go for long drives in his city beautiful, takes his evening walks, spends time with close friends and works with his alma-mater to re-ignite their Alumni network. This is why he left the corporate world to start on his own

We did tell you right in the beginning, that he has the asset of “clarity”. He used it well to make his life just the way he wanted.

For a lot of his friends, he is a 3am friend. You call him anytime of the day, with any kind of request, and he would be standing there next to you. He even stopped working, for a few weeks recently, when a close friend needed his time and presence in Delhi. That’s what makes Sachit a truly great human being.

Wishing the team of Emprise HR all the very best!
