When Akshay Kumar did Farah Khan’s Joker, did he become a bad actor?
When Vivek Oberoi did Shaad Ali’s Saathiya, did he become a fine actor?
Why is it that Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bharadwaj create magic together?
Why is it that Govinda and David Dhawan were considered an iconic jodi in 90s?
While your mind starts giving you answers to these questions, let me get you to a more real life scenario. Why do we yearn for a perfect boss, a perfect environment, good team members in our corporate life?
Rajat, a rank holder, on joining his first job, becomes his boss’s favourite, he bags the best of projects, timely promotions and great increments. He decides to move to a new company and his motivation levels starts dipping. the equation with his new boss doesn’t fit in and he starts struggling to get even the bare minimum of performance rating. He quits soon, to find another job.
What was about Rajat’s performance that couldn’t work as it had done in his first company? Did he over-night lose his intelligence and competencies? Did he suddenly become too over-confident that he couldn’t perform?
I recently had the good chance of visiting a Page 3 kind of social party. Everything about it was so stressful, that I couldn’t enjoy the party at all. From how am I dressed, to how do I walk, to when do I smile, when do I eat, what do I eat and so on. An otherwise smart, confident young corporate professional, shouldn’t have felt awkward with her own presence. Right?
There’s something that just doesn’t work perfectly at times, and there’s no harm accepting it as a fact. Rather than self-admonishing oneself, we should just be thankful that we have got a little more closer in knowing our own self.
I have seen young professionals getting into so much of self critique and self-analysis when they know they are good at their work, but they are just not being able to perform. Dude, it’s just alright. Really.
We have our own unique skills, each one of us, and those skills need the setting in which they can blossom. Every day, we are like these Bollywood actors, who need to be given the script that suits our personality, the working environment that can get the best out of us, the push by the director that excels our skills and of course the fair compensation.
Hence, in case you ever find yourself, doubting your own confidence, look at the list of all top actors today and realize that they even they failed as actors when either of the one things in the whole film making process was not suited for their success. Corporate jobs are stressful, and while it is very important to understand your own skill sets, it is also necessary to know if the setting is meant for you. Make your career calls judiciously.
